I began building my website ever since the days after my graduation from senior, well, maybe 19 years old then. There’s many versions of my own websites, till 2004, I found “blog” is the one I want. So guess what, I even did 3 blogs programming, that’s huge I think, and now, this is the last one settled on March, 2009, who knows the one last to last, we just believe in flesh and blood.

Chapter 01 “Ruffians’ Empire”

She’s born on September of 2000, the dynasties of early time to Internet for me. I’ll absolutely remember what the empire’s named from – that time, that panic time, I was a creative but a little bad guy, I mean I’m not the undesirable one but just sometimes a little joking. And what’s more, some, no, most of my friends, were the same kinds to me. So, girls or other formal friends called us “Ruffian”, I don’t consider it a bad nickname, so I begin to build web pages to advertise us, I mean, me, and my friends except the formal ones. Hey, it’s a nice work, they said, and what’s the most attractive element was the title. It did gave me so strong a confidence to work on, thanks for them, ruffians.

That time, I left my wife at home, of course, I mean, my computer, and six days in university, one day at home – that was the arrangement of one week, so you know, I just had one work day – considered to be the rest day for all formal people. How to arrange my time? So I began to work at school, it was a unimaginable environment for me to do so, here was the detail: school’s computers were so ugly, and in the lack of all software for me, such as page maker, pictures maker, professional program maker and so on. And what was the most I cannot bear is the condition of online, I’ve found a fastest bar, yes, you can do internet work here, but the speed was just like a snail pulling one hundred elephants – the server computer used a 14.4k’s modem to make 12 clients work. It’s too hard for people now to imagine. Ok, all texts were done by Microsoft Word?, and the page were done by Microsoft FrontPage?, all the pictures, icons were downloaded from others’ sites. Dawn to dusk and dusk to dawn, 3 days without sleep, she’s born, ruffian’s empire.

To my surprise, she’s so beautiful in every friends’ words or eyes or brains, no matter how ugly in my mind. Every visitor likes her, someone did the free links for me, somehow, it made me feel a little overwhelming by an unexpected favor, and the most strange thing was that most of the one who praise me and my pages was girls, really funny – all of “ruffians” were clearly, absolutely human being with the gender male, how could this be? And the guestbook was the most funny one – 95% of the words were come from girls.

Under the communication of ruffian’s empire, I made many new friends on line, some of them is still in touch of me now, of course, I know it’s not real friend in the flesh and blood, but still, I like them, for they’ve given me so much praise, confidences, and more, the nice feeling with achievement.

No base color system, no feeling of webdesign, no style of whole page, but, I miss her, my first daughter, I know that should be the ugliest one, but I love her still. I often say to myself, she’s not the best one, but the first one, forever.

The same year, another site, “in the memories of dog-people” was born, she’s the 2nd daughter, as the younger sister of ruffians’ empire, was put on the space of E-tang.

Cherish the dynasties of “Ruffian’s Empire”, without any reason.

Chapter 02 “History and Dreams”

Ok, perhaps a year past, after the 1st daughter. The follow year, and the October, I bore the 3rd one with the necessary pain just like every creature that’s bearing child. I named it “History and Dream”. The base color system and feeling of design became clear, although that’s so na?ve a feeling. A quantity of area-pictures’ the characteristic of her, surely, it’s not a good characteristic in fact. For all visitors, they often say, why your pages’ so large, I cannot bear any more, I want closing my browser now! So I just can say sorry to them, ok, I’ve nothing to explain. All pages in this site show very undivided subject, that’s what the title say, histories, and dreams. Mutual pages such as guestbook or BBS was canceled, so the click was down. I must visit it myself, or else, the number’ll stay still. The content of this site is almost about my families, my friends, the histories of me, the dreams that I have, and something other.
Base color system was almost gray, with a little orange color. I don’t know how to use colors’ collecting to make pages that looked good. However, it’s the first one of the design page, not just the table and text, not just icons with GIF, here laid more.
About the back controlling. So I started use database to save just textinfo. I’ve used Active Server Page 4.0 to manage that database (Microsoft Access Database), that should sound good, my friends said.
And the next year, in the spring, when the flowers began to bloom, my 4th version of website was born, its name was “fish under .net”.

Chapter 03 “Here is mine”

Etienne Mineur, a French designer, gave me a lot of creative ideas from his website, thanks to him, that I had an idea to upgrade my website.
So it began. When I considered the subject, I’ve influenced by Mr. Mineur, his main idea is so international idea – Simple’s the best. This did became the chief direction of building this site. I can remember what was the environment of that creation, if it was too hard, I mean in the aspect of design, especially the pictures design, then just ignored it, nothing would going wrong, did if you like, gave it up if you dislike.
About the characteristic, the database. This is the first time that I tried to use the database to manage the picture, the chief idea is that transport all the data in a JPG or GIF file into a table of a database, use the binary to save the data, but here was some problem with it, that was how to transport the text and picture data (binary) in the same time, in the same table of FORM? Ok then I did a lot of searching and trying of it. After did a quantity of experiments, I’ve found the method and at last make the way. That was how crazy a celebration, every time I resolved a problem, I would become crazy, it was really funny, and happy then. However, it was not hard for a senior programmer who was sensitive with ASP and database, but for me, it did was a long long quick quick progress.
One of my Business English teacher, the one that I respect forever and should be my good friend forever, left a sentence on the guestbook, praise me of course, I’ve heard the words that praised me from others a lot of times, but her words, this sentence, make me shocked, somehow, I just know, I cannot translate it into Chinese, but you can click here to find the words if you know Chinese, if you can translated it for me, please do me the favor send it to me.

Chapter 04 “Creative Guy”

That’s a funny time perhaps. I always stress on my creative ideas, or sprites maybe, really got a bit big for my boots… That’s a time that everyday work was thinking about myself and searching for creative thing, I mean, the things that can prove my words to “creative”… ? That’s way at the meanwhile I really got tired of putting something to practice, but just liked imagining. At that time, one of my mind was to build a website for the ads of my creative sprites, or ideas, maybe. So that was the only one which put into practice, then.
Even I’ve done a flash banner about this site, but just 10min-work, without any additional modify, so a little ugly maybe, but if you wanna have a look, just click here, and don’t say anything about that, keep silent, shhheeee… Well, now I can say I really can make that better, but not now, actually I haven’t got any ideas about modifying that flash banner, I consider it as my first-success flash work, of course, relatively.
Here were 4 versions of this site at least. From the earliest version “Creative Guy”- that’s the version 6.0, and then, “Creative Zone” – version 7.0, that’s what the very flash banner mentioned above used in. then here’s version 9.0, “Creative Lads”, actually I can’t tell what’s the differences between “lads and guys”… “Great Creator Sakurai (GCS) ” is the name that come from the Japanese TV dramatic “Great Teacher Oniziga (GTO)”, she might be the end of this whole road… Here’s still the 7.0 and 7.51 version, named “Here’s my empire”, and “Creative” is not formal ones, some reasons that about the server and the online works.
The main subject of these versions focused on the title, yes, create, creative, creature maybe. When you have something you really want to do and never hear about other’s consideration on this, ok, you’re really a creative guy, and you can build a website called “creative what what”, just like me aha.
